Is it easy to use? Do you just dump the stuff in tank?

That's all you do. This and using Top Tier will make the car run better and slow down carbon build-up. We're at 63K and running fine. We have powertrain warranty to 100K, but thereafter we are on our own. But hopefully the car can do 200K+ and if one or two carbon cleanings are needed, we'll look at it as needed maintenance similar to a timing belt change.

I haven't been sucessful in convincing the wife on a '13 3.0 Q5 and starting payments over again, when she is a couple of payments away from owning free and clear.

Yes. It even comes with a long spout that fits perfectly in the fuel tank hole. It is recommended to use with a full tank of gas so I usually add it at the gas station.

has anyone used Seafoam in their Audi's? That is what I use in all my other vehicles and lawn equipment. One can of Seafoam will treat like 209 gallons. I normally wait till there is only about 5 gallons of fuel and run a stronger mix, has always worked great for me.

I've used seafoam as well for other vehicles. I don't think it can hurt the Q5 but I don't think it can cure the carbon buildup issue because that is a design flaw in the FSI.

knock on wood I dont seem to have that problem. I have only had it since Nov. She had 53k miles on her and now has 63k and seems to run like a champ. No sluggishness, gets good MPG. Only issues I have is a misc rattle from the backish area when driving and a misc vibration/shudder from the steering when making slow turns mainly backing up and sometime turning like into a parking spot. besides that she has been great. :-) we are happy with our first Audi.

Bought some additive from Audi of Brookline in the Boston area. About $9 each (picked up 8), was told to use two cans, one at a time at consecutive fill ups as close to empty as possible. Going to repeat every 4-6 months along with some aggressive driving now and then to try and prevent some of the carbon build up. My 2010 Q5 has 42k miles on it. For those who have dealt with it, when do you usually see the effects of carbon build up?

Your 95k service was only $249?
My dealer just quoted me $399 for '09 A4

I am not sure exactly what they did, but boy was there a difference!! It was code 211-3A "BG Complete Fuel Service". It was only $ 246.48 before the service discount which was another 10% off the entire service.

The car idles much smoother, and I have noticed a difference in throttle response, overall quickness.

Not sure if they sold me snake oil, but I did notice a big difference. For the price it seams worth it, especially if it prevents the dreaded carbon buildup and pulling of the motor. (Now I have read on here that that issue mainly effects the exhaust ports, so not sure how this helped clean them out...)

An interesting side note is the service advisor did mention to hit the gas hard when accelerating onto the freeway, as winding up the motor is a good way to clean it out. I have been known to drive aggressively so maybe this has helped me not have to deal with the carbon issue.

Going up to the mountains to do some skiing for a few days, leaving today, it should be a nice drive. I will probably have over 100,000 miles before middle of April.

I think he meant the BG air/fuel service alone was $249. Note that this is different than putting BG in the fuel tank. They inject it into the intake and it flows over the valved. Putting it in the fuel may open up the injectors some but does nothing for the caked valves.
