Alcantara vs. Nappa Leather
I’m debating ordering a new SQ5 but can’t decide on which interior to go with Black Alcantara seating surfaces vs. the Nappa Leather? Other than the visual appearance what is the point of Alcantara seating surface? I’m concerned with wear and tear basic longevity of the insert? I’ve seen both seats but I’m wondering what most you chose and why?

I just went from a 14 SQ5 with Alcantara to a 15 SQ5 with two tone Nappa. Save the $1500, the Alcantara holds you in the seat, the forum says it wears well and it's warmer in the winter.
Although I love the soft feel of the Nappa.

I had alcantara in my 2010 S4, and insisted upon alcantara in my SQ. After almost 5 years in the S4 it didn't wear at all, still looked and felt as nice as it did brand new. Also it's very stain resistant. The best quality of alcantara, in my opinion, is its ability to regulate temperature. In the winter, it isn't very cold, and it lets the seat warmers warm up very quickly. In the summer, even in direct sunlight, the seats don't get very hot. You can jump right in, even wearing shorts, without searing your legs.

With alcantara, you can't get leather door armrests and leather instrument panel top which was a deal breaker for me. Plastic door handles and inst panel top looks cheap IMO, but had Audi made this option available with alcantara, I'd prefer it over leather.

Alcantara for me. It looks and feels much better in person IMO. Everything I read online said it would wear better. I test drove a q5 with leather and I just felt the alcantara held me in the seat better and was overall more comfortable. It also won't fluctuate as much when it gets hot/cold out.

I like Alcantara for a headliner, but never on the seats. I like smooth leather because you can adjust your position and slide around a bit without having to get up.

I agree. Nappa for me. I've had both and after living with it for two days the Nappa is well worth the $ because of the side armrests, side panels and center armrest.

I ended up in search of Nappa and am happy with my decision. I really liked the contrasting stitch and other bits above that others have mentioned.
I had considered Alcantara (really like the look of it as well in silver), but decided against it as I workout outside a lot in the summer, and was uncertain how it would wear with kind of treatment.....
