Via the MMI I have my seating, mirror positions, &locking pattern set specific to my 'key'.
Further re the hypothetical inquiry about locking or access fr the outside .... I work in a less than desirable area so I am very cautious in the locking or rather unlocking of more than my drivers door and have found the MMI set up in coord w/my 'key' an ease to my mind.

It's a great system, and unlike the new X3, there are sensors in the rear doors also. This means you can let your kid in the back before you get in the car. With the X3, the sensors are only in the front doors, meaning you have to touch the driver or passenger door handle and then go open the rear doors for the kids. Lame!

Nothing but trouble with mine. Just got it back as I had to have a new door handle do to a short. Couldn't get in or lock by touching the the door handles. Now it's doing it again, I can lock it sometimes by touching the door handle but when I come back it won't unlock with the door handle and I have to use the key fob to get in. Very frustrating because it's a 100 mile round trip to the dealership.
