Exactly my point - merchants have to pay credit card machine monthly fee and then every transaction fee. Not a big amount, but enough to one of the providers - Intuit - outsource all credit card processing to 3rd party. That why some time you see some store required pay - cash only - that they don't have to pay all this fee - that can be up to 3%

I wish I could put the monthly payment to Audi Financial on a cc. I asked, and was told that that they were going to start allowing cc payments, but i'm not holding my breath.

If they start accepting them they'll probably attach a fee to it. Our town charges back the fee they have to pay and I know some colleges let you pay via credit card but also have to cover the fee. I'd love to put my mortgage on a credit card.

They allowed US$2500 on my CC. Better than nothing.
I had gotten my Q5 ~$200 below invoice, so I didn't expect to be able to negotiate a larger amount.

With some tricky accounting by the finance department (I financed about half the car with an Audi APR promo), I was able to pay for all add ons at retail pricing, even though I negociated all of the add ons into the price of the car. They would not let me charge on my credit card of the remaining balance. It had something to do with Chase Bank not underwriting the auto loan until the payment was cleared for the remaining balance. Also, the price we negociated was contingent on making their July sales.
In other words, I think it's a case by case basis from the looks of it.

i just got this email from american express--with participating dealers, you can put any amount, up to the full amount on your american express card.
here the website for the american express program:
http://carpurchase.amexnetwork.com/
Use your American Express(R) Card to purchase your next car at a
participating dealership.
Choosing which car to buy can be a big decision. Choosing how to pay for
it can be easy, especially when there's a payment option that offers
convenience, security, and rewards.
At participating dealerships, now you can use your American Express Card
for any amount--even the full purchase price of the car you want to buy.
And when you use an eligible, enrolled Card, you can earn rewards that
can help take you farther-from points or miles toward a vacation to cash
back that you can use to fill up your tank.
3 Simple Steps:
- Visit a participating dealer.
- Negotiate your price.
- Use your Card for any amount, in part or in full, with no additional
dealer fees.

that is great..not for me though. None of the Audi dealerships in Texas participate. Unless Amex is waiving the fees for the dealerships, there is really no incentive for them to do so.
