The dealer I used for purchase would only allow $3,000 on credit card.

I did $1,000 over the phone to hold it, and did $3,000 more at the time of delivery.

I was putting $7,000 down on my car years ago, figured I'd get the points on my Diner's Club. The dealership had no problem w/ that. Called Diner's Club so they wouldn't bug me w/ odd for me charge on the credit card. Diner's Club shared a little unknown fact that caused me to pull my check book out and write a check instead. A little known fact at least in Pennsylvania is any credit card purchase on a new car voids the new car lemon law. Haven't heard about that being changed in Pennsylvania. Check your states for lemon law details.

Huh? What would the reasoning behind that be? How you pay doesn't change the chances of your car being a lemon. Or does the credit card company not just want the possibility of having to refund such a large amount back?

Don't even try to figure out a logical reason behind why Pennsylvania does anything. Since moving here a few years ago, I'm constantly scratching my head at different rules/laws here going "huh?!?!"

Hmmm so I wonder if you put it on an Amex if it would extend the warranty?
