Default APR ECU Tuning - FAIL :(

I took my 2011 Q5 2.0T to Eurosport Automotive in Plano, TX today and had them attempt to upgrade my ECU with APR software. After about 1.5hrs the tech that was working on my car told me he repeatedly tried to upload the APR software to my ECU but was greeted with the message of "not available".

I called APR this afternoon and spoke with Ryan, and he confirmed that 2011 ECU Software is indeed UNAVAILABLE! I asked if the current sale would be extended to 2011 Q5 owners as APR's website suggests that 2011 Q5 is one of the models available. Ryan said once the 2011 Q5 software is released the current 2011 Q5 owners would qualify for the "sale pricing".

Needless to say, this left a sour taste in my mouth for APR. Why would you post the availability of a product and have a dealer go through 2 hours of a customer's time only to say oops...? I think someone in marketing should have paid more attention.

Anyways, thought I'd share. Ryan says to expect Q5 tuning in about 3-6 months. If you've got a 2011 Q5, I just saved you 2 hours...

Wow what a disappointment. I'd be upset too.

A similar story, my RS4 was in the shop for the whole day recently for a GIAC flash that was supposed to take an hour. First they didn't have the tune, had to wait for GIAC (Kalifornia) to open at 9 a.m. Early bird gets the worm - NOT. Well that's noon my time, so no contact until after lunch. The whole morning - wasted. For some odd reason, GIAC didn't have the tune on it's server. What a run around. At least I went home with a tune. Why do tuners have to make things so difficult?

Then to throw salt on the wounds, the quote was $724.63. I was charged $936.63 which was GIAC's "Spring Special".

I have an appointment same place tomorrow! Just emailed Ryan, as I sent him the specs on my computer for 2.0T 2011 and he said it was available a couple weeks ago. Waiting to hear back.

I emailed Ryan at APR and he had already received my ECU numbers from my VaG-Com and says the tune is available for my Box, so off to get chipped tomorrow, will report back my results.
If you are thinking about getting APR or anyone elses tune best to get your ECU #s from the dealer or with a Vag-Com before and check with APR, so far they have been very responsive to me. ryan also did mention if they do not have the tune, have one of thei rapproved shops get the code off your car and send to APR.

I am not sure if we are talking about the same Ryan...but a Ryan Miller did email me to let me know that the incident is unfortunate and was apologetic.

He said he'd let me know when the official 2011 2.0T Q5 software becomes available...until then I'll hang tight since Eurosport told me I was the first Q5 they'd tried to flash! Should've known that it wasn't going to end well being the first guy...in DFW!

Keep us posted on your results please. I could always use some more power

I have emailed Ryan Miller several times. However Eurosport called me this morning and asked to hold off. Even though Ryan said my cars ECU was able to be tuned by APR sofware, eurosport didnt want to spend the time just taking it out just to find out no software was available. At this point I am waiting for official work back from Ryan.
Are there any other tuners for our 2011 Q5 2.0T yet in US? I have not been able to find any. Even though I am overall happy with the performance I would still like to get the most out of the engine.

Stasis has an agreement with Audi for this tune to be done in conjunction with the Audi warranty and, I believe, by Audi service. I believe the ECU tune is available now, though I haven't heard from anyone on this forum who has done it.

Default APR Upgrade - 2.0T

This is very interesting and I am sorry about all your troubles - I tried the same in December and it failed after APR checked the ECU details, Chris confirmed availability and the shop spent two hours on the upgrade.

In February I received a message that now the new APR update is available for the Q5 2.0T and I should go to the shop and have them pull the same ECU information again that I already sent the previous time.

I have not had time to do it yet and I am glad I did not waste more time on it based on what you experienced.

I also talked with a Stasis dealer and he told me that he expects that ECU upgrade to be available in May. I am holding out for that one now. If I hear anything, I will post it here.

Thanks
