To me it's a bad idea. You risk losing it or someone finding it. And I think both risks are greater than you losing your key.

If you do lose your key, then take a taxi home (or get a ride somehow) and return for your car.

If you're on vacation some distance from home, give your second key to a friend/spouse, etc.

f you do lose your key, then take a taxi home (or get a ride somehow) and return for your car.

If you're on vacation some distance from home, give your second key to a friend/spouse, etc.
