Default Automatic Headlight

When the headlight switch is set to Automatic, is there a way to determine if the headlights are on rather than the driving lights? Some times on an overcast rainy day I am not certain if the headlights have come on.
Thank you for the assistance.

Not so easy to test but I think the dash display is dimmed when the headlights are on. E.g., the map display would be in night mode. You can also check for reflections on the car in front. Steve

Fog lights won't come on with lights on auto or manual, right?

We have to manually turn on the fog lights.

I turn the fog lights on manually when I need my headlights on during the daytime. That ensure the headlights are on (since they come on with the fog lights), and I don't have to remember to turn my lights back off (or set back to auto) when I park. The lazy man's method.

I keep my headlights on auto because they AFS headlights won't move in the "on" position. They must be in the "auto" position to move.

I always look to see if the window/lock controls have lit up on my armrest. When those are on, headlights have come on.

It's hard to see, but the green lights on the switch light up when the headlights are on. Also, you can manually turn them on by activating the fog lights. The Nav display will not always switch to night mode when they're on. Also, if driving in rain, I believe they come on shortly after the automatic wipers start to kick in. The problem I have with them is in snow!
