There are many different part number because each one is "coded" diffrently. Like spijun said, there is a kit (8R0 071 712 P) to identified which one you need.
Oh, so it's not normal for them to not give out part numbers? I asked for the part number for the aux cable, and he just stared at me for a few seconds and said "yeah... we don't give out part numbers." Maybe I could have pushed him a bit, since I was buying and coding keys with them, but I didn't :-(

Maybe I need to go to a different dealership and ask them to identify the wrench part number then...

This is the recommended price from of Audi of America 23$-without local tax

Show this your dealer and ask him why he's price $70

As I wrote Yoshimura for Audi Jim Ellis, where the price $ 31.

Looks like the roofracks have their own locks so to speak. You need the correct wrench in order to remove them (and install) just like a set of wheel locks. How thoughtful of Audi. Sure beats coming out of a truckstop diner during a road trip and finding your rooftop carrier and racks gone! The dealer is doing you a service by charging $70...It would cost a thief $700 to have all of them at his/her disposal.

The "find it elsewhere" part is the reason most dealers do not give out part numbers. As for figuring out which wrench is correct for your rack, assuming you do not have your instruction manual, is to find a dealer with the master key set and have them figure out which key is right for you. I call it a key because that is essentially what it is. If you already have the instruction manual with the code feel free to PM me and I will be happy to give you the entire part number needed (as well as a quote for the wrench from our site).
