I didn't know these numbers were so close. What I can tell you is that interior space feels quite a bit tighter in the EX vs the Q5, especially cargo room.

We looked at the EX before buying our Q5. The trunk space was SOOO small. We couldn't even fit our stroller lengthwise, it had to go diagonally (and even then it was tough). Not that the Q5 has the biggest trunk out there, but the lack of space in the EX's was a total dealbreaker for us.

it's interesting that the specs are so similar, since the feel of the 2 cars is quite different. the Q5 feels a lot more spacious inside than the EX did.

I am sold on the Q5. But they are pricey. I'm searching very hard for a 2010 prestige. I see one on line for 45k. If I offer 39k 0r 40k should I opt for it? or wait and get 2011 model. I know I won't be saving anything doing that. The one on line is a used 2010 with 5k miles. White and cardamon interior. Thoughts?

I first was looking and almost bought the Infiniti FX - after maybe a half dozen test drives, but also did look at the EX - which IMHO has about the nicest styling in any car (in my price range). But even for my small family or 3, was/felt way too small in the interior - cargo space was nil and the blind spots with that small back window were awful. So after 1 drive, the EX was eliminated from contention. However, one test drive in the Q5 and that was all I needed to decide on geting one.
