Default Best tint

Hi. I'm about to get an Audi Q5 Quartz Grey. What brand do you recommend for tint? I'm choosing between 3M and Solar Gard.

I prefer darkest tint for sides and back while 2nd to the darkest tint in front.

Also, do you guys tint the sunroof? Is this necessary?

Fyi, i like in a very tropical climate where almost everyday is summer.

Both brands of tint should work well but I have 3M. Installer is probably the more important choice.

Definitely tint the sunroof. On mine, ceramic (reflective) tint was used on the sunroof. A must for AZ.

Happy motoring in the new Q5!

I did and cost me $100.00 for a Formula One Comfort Series tint at 20%.

It does make a good difference. I park in an uncovered lot at work and did notice that the car was hotter with the pano, so I decided to tint it and it actually feels cool inside. Here in SoCal you will feel the difference. I also did the two front doors with the Pinnacle Series at 30%.

The combination works well in keeping the car cool enough for me.

Not a lot of sunlight coming through, it is actually dark but you can see through if there is no light inside the car and is dark outside, otherwise is kind of looking in the mirror.

Doesn't that defeat the purpose of the nice pano roof? Would a ceramic tint be better perhaps? It might allow more light and reduce the heat.

That's exactly what I was thinking and why I asked how many had done tint. I think the Pano is great and don't want to ruin it.

You are right. Mine is ceramic at 30% and it is dark but not very dark, there is some reflection though, but you can still see the trees and the sky even in a cloudy day as today - I just checked to give you a more accurate opinion.

It is a matter of preference, I know there are films out there that are clear and reject the heat quite well. I drive long distances every week-end so I prefer less sun and heat on my head while driving 4-5 hours each way.
