It looks scary indeed, I almost fainted when they sent me pictures of the progress, I’d never try to do this myself either. This shop is a very good one, they wouldn’t allow me to take pictures but they had some decent rides there, Porsches, Bimmers and some AMGs, thing is that cars are utterly expensive here (a brand new Q5 costs $80K for the entry level trim and an 8yo Q5 2.0T with 100K miles costs easily $30K) so repairing them makes a lot of sense, cars rarely get scrapped, only if totaled, you can get to see some beauties in the street in pristine conditions.

locally used Q5s TFSi are about €17,000-18,000. Diesels start at about €13,000. I would think that these prices are negotiable. So dont think that Q5s are a good investment since their depreciation is high
It is imperative to find a good knowledgeable garage with good tracking record on customer retention, with good rates, who try to help customer not .... us over on maintenance cost .

Are these the 3 zone HVAC lines I see on one of your photos?? Too much work for retrofitting the full HVAC 3 zone

It's got dual zone for the front seats and one manual zone for the back seat, so yeah, 3 zones

9AQ - Heating and air-conditioning system: Air conditioning plus
0Y2 - Climatic zones: Tropical zones
8Z4 - Engine cooling: moderately hot country
7E0 - Heat accumulator system/auxiliary heater: W/o heat accumulator/auxiliary heating
9M0 - Auxiliary heating system: Without auxiliary heater/parking heater
