Hello,
I currently have a 2011 Meteor Grey A4 Avant Premium Plus (Canadian) and I am looking to purchase another Audi, specifically a 2013 Q5 2.0T Premium Plus.
I love the Meteor Grey, due to how easy it is to keep clean and hide scratches, but I am conflicted on the colour for the Q5. I prefer darker greys, but the only only Grey available to us Canadians is Monsoon Grey (Daytona is only available with the S-Line Package). So now I am considering Brilliant Black, but am wondering what others have experienced with either of these colours?
My thinking is that I may be safe with Brilliant Black for the Q5 as it is a bit higher and may not be as prone to scratches from road grim, etc. Do others find that scratches show easily and if this colour is difficult to keep clean? I have never owned a black car before and any input is appreciated!
Thank you

I currently have a metallic black SUV (not an Audi) and have ordered a Cuvee silver Q5. My advice, for what its worth, would be the Monsoon Gray.
It is a beautiful color IMO, and was a tossup with Cuvee when I ordered.
My black gets dirty/dusty quick, and does swirl and scratch easy.

Black (non-metallic) car in general will be fairly high maintenance to keep looking clean. It all depends on how picky (good of an eye) you are. If you want your car to always look clean (without putting effort to keep it clean), then black might not be the best choice. Also, if it rains frequently in your area, then a black car will look dirty most of the time unless you wash it a lot (which you have to be careful when washing/cleaning)... But when it's clean, it looks awesome ![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Good luck!

Phantom black is easier to maintain than brilliant black. Most brilliant blacks after a couple years look pretty bad if you don't keep after it.
You can't hardly hand wash a brilliant black car without scratching it. There's nothing to hide the swirl marks and spider webbing effect. I've been around Audis for years and the professional detailers who work on them. And most of them hate brilliant black.
I'm not a fan of black cars at all. I could possibly be talked into a phantom black car.
Brilliant Black...uh, never.
