Default can the "average gas mileage" calculations be adjusted?

I like to see what my average gas mileage is running per tank, but it is always ~10% high. on a tan that I get 18 MPG by calculating fillup/distance, it will show 20 MPG on the dash. its always right about that 2 MPG difference on every fillup. not sure if that is something that can be adjusted to lower the calculation by 10% or so.

It can, but you need the cable. Cannot be adjusted through the MMI.
