Default Can I tow with 2.0?

I would be towing between 3000 - 4000lbs (with about 60lbs of tongue weight if that matters).

Audi Q5 Instruction Book says:
Trailer load limit in kg
unbraked 750
12% gradient 2000
8% gradient 2400

I have been towing around 2000 lbs with no trailer brakes with mine and it goes and stops pretty effortlessly. In cruise it will pull hills in 8th gear on the interstate. Not in cruise, it will shift down to 6th same hills. Also even in hot weather 90+ and in traffic with a/c on temp gage and performance never changes. Exceeds my expectations. I am curious how others are making out with the weight you need to tow.

Mine is 3.2L and rated 4400 lbs, still owner should consider the "comfortable" range to be about 75-80% from whole rating.

I tow about 2000 lbs from Kansas to Utah and few weeks later back, 1100 miles each way and I would not spend a second to think I would tow 4000 trailer as my mileage with current open flatbed trailer drops down to 16 mpg and too often I have to manually shift to keep the speed and eliminate the back and forth shifting.
D and cruise is fine on flat & level highway .

If you seriously wanna tow 4000 lbs then get Touareg TDI or like.

Spijun is talking in kg's here so those numbers translate as follows:
750kg = 1650lb
2000kg = 4400lb
2400kg = 5280lb

Oh, and with the torque and the torque curve of the 2.0TFSI it should tow like an absolute trooper. It's power delivery should actually be more suited to towing than the 3.2FSI.

Crusty,

Quite true when comparing naturally aspirated 3.2L that I have to rev up to keep it going versus charged 2.0L with better low end grunt.

Though your 3.0 TDI would be the best as gasser sucks with towing and that is why I have my eyes on new Touareg TDI...

My trailer has brakes if that makes a difference...the v6 Rav4 pulls it no problem, but that is a 3.6 liter.

I'd rather tow at about half the specified weight, with brakes. That gives me some extra when needed, rather than running near the top. YMMV

Does the 3.2 have a higher tow capacity? This trailer has inertia brakes and very little tongue weight so I am comfortable pulling at or near towing capacity
