As per Audi Canada ... ”Regarding your interest in the Q5 3.0T TFSI, we invite you to look forward to its release in the first quarter of 2013”.
My current 2010 Q5 3.2 TFSI lease expires in mid-Sept so I unfortunately have to bail the Audi family and I’m returning to the BMW family and leasing a MY2013 X3 35i.
I suspect that the USA will also be plagued with Audi’s marketing misfortunes in which there will be a complete 5-6 month void of a 6 banger TFSI in the NA marketplace.
I truly enjoyed my Q5 and the dynamic and collaborative Q5 forum

Is your lease through Audi Financial Services? If it is, we were advised when leasing our A4 that we could "extend" the lease at the end for a few months, if we were purchasing another Audi. This came up, because our lease ends a few months before the next year's models will be out, and we inquired about options, should we choose to order another Audi to replace it with. It can't hurt to look into that option, if you really want to stick with Audi.

I was actually planning to endure the wait until I heard about the SQ5 coming to Canada as a 2014 model. (Yes... It will be MINE!)
Audi Canada has told me that the 2014 SQ5 will follow a standard release schedule. (Meaning: delivery late summer, early autumn 2013)
In my situation, I can hold out till then without any issue... Plus, I'd rather take delivery of new car when there's no salt on the roads. :-p

I did this for my wife's former Q7. Assuming that you are in good standing (i.e. no late payments), Audi FS will grant up to 6 months from the current lease end date. The only drawback is if you wanted to sell or buy the vehicle, the extended payments do not reduce the residual. It is purely a rental fee at the same monthly payment.
The X3 is a great vehicle. It would've been my choice as well, X3 3.5i M-sport in carbon black. However my wife preferred the Q5 which is also a great vehicle. Good luck with the new ride.
