Default Carbon Buildup ?

I've seen mention of this in a few threads throughout AW and was curious ...

Is this an issue from just puttering around and/or not running it long/hard enough when warm ?

I can't imagine any of our cars not being 'pushed' enough, and the wife snaps my head back more than me

Would a fuel additive like http://www.rxp.com help it ?
Have used it for years in other vehicles....

I think someone had mentioned the newer cars have an auxiliary injector to wash the back of the valve ??

I would love confirmation that Audi uses a new system of running fuel to the top injector area. I think it has been mantioned that Lexus may have come up with a solution using direct injection to the cylinder and port injection on top to stop carbon build up. Don't know if that is true.

Whether this helps or not, i heard a nice little saying on another thread: a redline a day keeps the mechanic away!

Indeed! I suppose that here one gets both top tier and bottom tier at the same time and at the same pump.

One source: Pemex, a government owned monopoly, with a choice of regular or premium.

There's a good article about it here:
Direct Injection Fouls Some Early Adopters.

You can read more about the VW patent mentioned in the above article here.

I would like to read more about this. Any chance you remember where it was posted?

Article about varying detergent levels in fuel here.
