Default Center Console Grill

In the center console, there is a rectangular grill to the right of the shifter. Does anyone know what it's purpose is? I'm guessing it's a cabin temperature sensor, but there is already one next to the climate control *****. The other possibility I can thought of was a place to hold change. Don't laugh, I've seen this type of setup before in other cars. I didn't find anything about it in the manual, but maybe I wasn't looking hard enough. It IS a fairly sizeable book.

Thanks!

If you don't smoke you can use the ash tray for coins.

The dealer told me that it is indeed a place to hold change. Pretty lame, actually: capacity of about six coins! (Why?) One of my few minor gripes about this otherwise awesome vehicle!

Interresting! I thought it was for those electronic swipe cards for parking garages, lots, etc... but change makes "some" sense. I park downtown a lot and leaving $10 in change in clear view is an invitation to have the windows broken , and the cops could care less.

DrV, is there an iPhone dock in your ashtray compartment? Perhaps it's just sitting there...

It would be the ideal place to have a docking station . . . but, it's a handy spot to keep my phone anyway
