Certified 2011/2012 vs 2013

Ok, I'm pretty dead set on a Q5. I have gone and compared about everything out there that I would consider, and the Q5 still made it to the top. Now deciding between a "Certified" 2011/2012 PP or a good deal on a Prestige, or holding out on a 2013 PP with little to few additional options to keep within budget. Though I like the 2013, I am disappointed with how little they changed. I'm sure there are some things like the updated Nav I would like, but a more loaded 2012 with MORE warranty, (certified ads 2 years and 50,0000 miles), is looking more enticing.

No opinion but a few of the guys here were more than happy with the way their values held up. Meaning the payback for buying a new car came when they traded again. Have you fully negotiated the new price either 2012 or 2013 yet?

I'm kinda in the same boat myself. Only problem I'm down to 1 car with a household that is need of 2 cars, so I don't think I can wait until Sept/Oct. for the 2013's even if they come out at that time. Currently looking at Black on Black 3.2 CPO Prem. Plus w/ Nav. for 36k (28k miles). These cars move so fast from these NYC dealerships even though the facelift is coming out.

As much as I travel, the 6year/100,000k warranty seems to out weigh the changes they made on the 2013's. I will still wait to see them before I buy and see how much wiggle room there is, (as if), but I figure a loaded slightly used 2012 will be easier to deal on then.
As much as I would rather have the 2.0t, (newer, little better mileage, and more tuneable), I know I will regret it when I see a 3.2's body styling on the PP and Prestige. The 2.0 and 3.2 are so close in performance and "real world" gas mileage that it has come down to a silly shallow detail that pushed me over the fence...... *sigh* Looks.

I'm looking at 2010 models, and given that they are 3.2 only the dealer price is almost new invoice (2.0). Any advice on what I should do?
I don't care much between 3.2 and 2.0. Do you think I can get a deal on in-stock 2012s? What would be the best time to negotiate? (assuming sept/oct time when 2013 inventory is in)

I would be very careful about the certified used. Really check it out to try and figure out why it was returned so soon. Was it a lease return or was it purchased for personal and the person returned it because of some issue. I actually bought a "certified" 1 year old A4 which went through the full audi inspection. Yet I had excessive oil consumption almost immediately, had carbon build-up and I think the original owner got rid of it for those reasons. Remember, Audi has the ridiculous usage of 1200mi/qt as normal. Mine started burning a QT of oil every 800 and problems such as rattles that they tried to fix. All of this as a certified. I honestly did not save that much and now regret not buying new. Ultimately I traded it for a new car.

I was in the same boat... 2012 new or CPO or 2013... finally after 3 months in the market i got what i wanted ... 2012 Q5 2.0 Moon Blue/Blk Prem Plus, NAV, 19" and other stuff. MSRP was 45750. Final number was 40,400 with 1500 loyalty discount from my bro's S4. They also gave added audicare for free. I think it was a good deal but i would love to hear others' opinion.

I think the Q5 is one of the unique cars where buying new beats buying used since there isn't enough of a price savings since these cars really don't depreciate all that quickly. In addition to the price, you need to consider that finance rates are generally better on new cars (1.9% now I believe for a 5 year through Audi Finance). It's also tough to know how a previous owner treated the car and how often it got serviced.
I bought a CPO Q7 for the wife and we got over 40% off the original MSRP after 3 years and thought that was worth the price savings. With the Q5, you get no better than 20-25% off MSRP after 3 years if you're lucky. I say in the case of a Q5, go with the new one.
