I think the Q5 is one of the unique cars where buying new beats buying used since there isn't enough of a price savings since these cars really don't depreciate all that quickly. In addition to the price, you need to consider that finance rates are generally better on new cars (1.9% now I believe for a 5 year through Audi Finance). It's also tough to know how a previous owner treated the car and how often it got serviced.
I bought a CPO Q7 for the wife and we got over 40% off the original MSRP after 3 years and thought that was worth the price savings. With the Q5, you get no better than 20-25% off MSRP after 3 years if you're lucky. I say in the case of a Q5, go with the new one.

I'm kinda in the same boat myself. Only problem I'm down to 1 car with a household that is need of 2 cars, so I don't think I can wait until Sept/Oct. for the 2013's even if they come out at that time. Currently looking at Black on Black 3.2 CPO Prem. Plus w/ Nav. for 36k (28k miles). These cars move so fast from these NYC dealerships even though the facelift is coming out.
Please feel free to contact me.
