Default Clear mask, what did your install look like?

To those of you who had a clear mask installed on your Q, specifically darker colored ones, what did it look like after install? My installer is telling me to wait two weeks for it to cure and then some of the wrinkly areas will lay flat...Some of these imperfections do not seem as if they will go away. My car is black so I know it shows everything but wanted to get some feedback to see if I am, once again, being too picky!

Wait the amt of time the installer requested. If it's still wrinkly take it back in. Mine had a few water bubbles not air bubbles and they laid flat over the first week. I've never seen a "wrinkle" lay flat once the adhesive has adhered to itself.

I have never seen one lay flat either...Looks like he pulled it and re-applied it. I am going to let it sit in the sun this weekend and see if it gets better; Thanks!

If your dealership has the automated car wash, don't let them wash it and don't take it through the car wash. The clear bra will scratch and look terrible.

I took the Q5 through automated car washes all throughout the winter, albeit always the touch less ones. Unless you have a heated garage, not much of an alternative. No scratch at all on the clear bra.

Agree with Camrudy that the installer may have reapplied. Mine did not have a single wrinkle. There were a couple air bubbles, but those went away after about a week.

My dealer told me they wash all the black Audis by hand (Wilsonville). Others get the automated wash. I don't know if this is the norm across dealerships or not. And my clear bra was applied very well at the dealer as part of purchase.

I have the dark blue (Deep Sea) and have the clear bra on my entire hood & side fenders ... I do not have an issue of wrinkles. Tho' the dealership had my Q for 3 days as they kept not adhering the protectant sheet fast enought and it turned a 'pearly white' and is called a 'silvering effect'. It is passable on a white colored vehicle but not on my dark one. So it took them 3x to get it right and i've noticed that some of the under wrapping around the edges are creeping up - BUT no wrinkles now or right after installation.

Let us know how it goes...

I had my new Q5 done last Friday, along with tinting of the front windows. My Q5 is black. There are no wrinkles or any air or water bubbles. The clear mask is not noticeable on the front bumper or the mirrors. There is only a faint line across the hood and front fenders where the film ends, which you can only see from close by.

Took it back down to the guy and he agreed it was not "curing" correctly so it gets replaced on Friday. He did admit to pulling the film a time or two on the hood which is what caused he damage. We'll see how the second go-round turns out!
