Default CPO warranty and maintenance question

Hi,

My car is up for 55k mile service, does the car need to be serviced at the Audi dealer to maintain the CPO warranty, or would it be void if service is done at non Audi service shop?

Also, is there easy way to reset service due light? the 55k service seems pretty straightforward to do , i.e. change oil, dust, and air filter...the dealer quoted $300 to do the job.

Any advice appreciated

Thanks!

You can service your car anywhere you wish, even do it yourself. Just save your receipts in case you should have a warranty claim. An Audi/VW indy should be able to reset the service due indicator. Or find someone in your area with a Vag-Com cable. Or buy one from Ross-Tech - a very useful tool.

thanks for the help

are any brands of oil and cabin filters OK, or would only audi products be recommended?

It is always recommended that you use Audi OEM cabin filters and oil because it is the safest for your car.

Getting service done at a non-Audi shop is perfectly ok. Won't void the CPO warranty.

Audi doesn't make oil. The synthetic my dealer uses is Mobil1 5W-30. Just be sure the it states VW 502 00 spec.

The dealer used Castrol synthetic when I took the car in for the 5k service.

You can buy the Audi warranty from any Audi dealer. Bearing in mind that these warranties typically have a huge mark-up, I drafted an e-mail soliciting bids and sent it to ten Audi dealers. I got a total of eight bids in response. I then asked my local dealer to match the low bid which they agreed to do. Result: a savings of more than $1,000.

Keep in mind, Audi does not offer extended warranties - they are all provided and backed by third party companies i.e. Fidelity so the prices will vary all over the map. The manufacturer CPO limited warranty is the only exception.

I guess I'm somewhat confused. The Audi Vehicle Protection Plan I'm referring to is administered by Fidelity but is being sold by Audi dealers. As I understand it, the coverage and terms are identical regardless of which dealer you buy the plan from. As I discovered the price can vary dramatically from dealer to dealer, but all are selling the identical product. I assume you meant that Audi (the manufacturer) is not offering the warranty.
