Thanks for all the advice and input.
So regarding swerving to miss the dog, it was actually automatic reaction. Unfortunately, I was driving through a very tight s-turn and couldn't re-adjust fast enough after the initial reaction.
So this is what happen so far... I have USAA insurance. Since, I was taken to the ER to make sure there were no neck injuries the car was towed to storage. USAA had the car then towed to their authorized repair specialist to access the damages.
I didn't think about it, but should I have them transfer the car to an Audi Authorized Repair specialist?
As much as I love the car, I would prefer it to be totaled.
Thanks again.

You really have no choice but let Usaa check out your car..But after they give you their estimate you can then take it to a Audi dealer for repair.
Remember unless audi finds more wrong with the car that was not picked up be the Usaa claim adjuster you will not
Get any more cash from Usaa.
The good news is that most dealers will accept the payment from the insurance company.
USAA is a good company to work with..

So a little more information... (i'll keep updating so that if anyone else has to go through this they may learn something from my experience).
USAA (my insurance company) will warranty all work done for as long as I own the car, if it's done by one of their specific auto repair locations. This warranty is however, not transferable. So once I sell the car, the parts that are fixed no longer have a warranty.
However, if I go to an Audi certified center and have them repair the car, the repairs will be covered by the Audi warranty. 50,000 miles.
The ideal situation would be to have the repair done by a repair center that is both USAA certified and Audi certified. Sadly in San Diego there is no such facility.

Let me correct that. Audi certified centers part have a 12-month 12,000 mile warranty. I am not sure if the original 50,000 mile warranty is intact or not for the replaced sections.

You could have been killed..
Anyway accidents happen. We just have to learn from it. Thankfully its just the

I was in the predicament as you. However, these vehicles are difficult to repair that require the use of OEM sealers, flues, basecoat paint and clear coat paint. In the end I ended up using an Audi Certified Repair facility named DC Auto Craft in Burbank and they did an excellent repair on my rear bumper. I did not want to jeopardize the factory warranty by using a non Audi certified repair facility.

I wonder how big the dog was...
I rolled an SUV 3.5 times after I swerved to avoid a moose.
BIG difference between a dog a moose... hitting a moose is definitely more dangerous than swerving to hit something else.

A quick update:
So the repair shop that is doing the estimate for USAA finalized their quote: $25,650.
Additionally, they said that there may be damage to the motor mounts and/or transmission mounts. But they don't know as "only did a minimal teardown" May be an additional 10-15% to the cost.
I'll keep you updated.
Thanks.

Unfortunately, your Q5 has sustained a lot of damage. If the insurance company deems your Q5 repairable I would most definitely elect to have your Q5 repaired at an Audi Certified Collision Center. Repair costs add up very quickly with these vehicles.
