Can someone take a picture of the areas where they are applying the tape?

FWIW I have this issue, have not had a chance to take a look at it yet though.

I also had the now infamous 'squeek' coming from the rear driver's side passenger seat. Dealer made the same fix as others have - some tape around the striker.

I had the same issue as well, thought it was the cargo cover because it squeaks if you wiggle it. After spraying silicone lube on the rubber posts the cargo cover was quiet but the squeak was still there when I drove over bumpy roads. Tried putting the middle pass-thru seat down and sure enough the noise disappeared.

I took a suggestion from fellow posters and put some black electrical tape around the metal post (striker) sticking out from the driver's side rear seat and this seems to have fixed the problem. Thanks guys!

posted this in the picture thread -

For those who don't can't figure it out from the picture it (the post) is actually on the passenger side of the drivers side rear seat. You need to fold down the center section to get to it though (by the release button next to the center headrest), if you fold the combined driver side/center section by the release down by the door you won't see it.

(and by the way I did it today with teflon tape and it did the trick).

For the record I had the same problem (loud squeak/creak in cold weather on bumpy roads) and the same fix worked for me (black tape around latch post for center seat back). 2010 Q5

Same here. Squeaky noise. Before reading this thread I went through the cargo space, even removed the spare tyre inflator and lubed the cargo hatch seals. Nothing helped. Confirmed the middle seat section was the troublemaker and applied the tape this morning. All good now.

Have you tried dry lube silicon spray? I have found a liberal application to most joints/surfaces eliminate most squeaks and creaky noises. It worked on my Q5 sunroof/moonroof, which made a terrible noise when at 50 mph or higher. I opened the roof and sprayed the gasket well, and one year later, still no noise. It works well on door gaskets, etc. Give it a shot.

I still have an ANNOYING rattle in the rear and I can't find it. It's not the seat post or cargo cover. I'm going to have to have the dealer locate it.
