Hey!
I've only had my car for a couple of months and I love it. It's a 2016 Q5 2.0 Premium Plus in Utopia Blue Metallic
When I first got the car, my parking sensors would go off if I got too close to things when parking, etc. I found this especially helpful when pulling into my garage. Recently, I noticed that the sensors stopped engaging UNLESS the car was in reverse. I brought it in to the dealership and was told that the parking sensors only engage when the car is in reverse or when the back-up camera is manually activated. I know this isn't the case because mine would go off when pulling into my garage (and driving close to my fence) or just pulling into a parking spot in general. All of a sudden it stopped which prompted a call to the dealer.
When I brought it in, he checked my settings and seemed stumped. Then he asked if I had any recent updates. I said that my MMI software had been updated and he said that the update must have done something to the parking sensors so it only works when the rear camera is engaged which is the norm for all newer model Audi's.
While this *could* be true, I feel like the sensors were still working after the update as I didn't notice them until at least a week or so AFTER the update.
SO, long story short -- do you have a 2016 Q5 2.0 where the parking sensors sound even when the car is NOT in reverse or when the rear camera is manually activated?

- Have 2 of the same car exactly. Rear sensors always work when in reverse. I have a tight fit parking on 1 side in my garage. Usually have to manually press the dash button to activate the front sensors. When I do that BOTH the front & rear sensors activate as the rear sensors pick up the side of the garage. Both cars function the same. Sirius screwups have no effect.

Thank you for your response.
I am so confused as to why my fronts used to work without having to manually press that button!
One day, as I was pulling into my garage, I almost hit my treadmill because I had grown used to listening for the beeps.
Has your MMI software been updated?

What MMI version do you have now?
I have a 2014 but a much more recent MMI version 942_3.
Mine has always functioned like greasykid's (before and after MMI update) car has to either be in reverse or press the park button to get the sensors to activate.

If front sensors did not work this way then every time you got close behind another car in traffic the front alarms would sound. Under some situations the front sensors come on w/o my pushing the dash button. Usually when parking.
