Default Electromechanical Steering Unit Extended Warranty Letter

I received the attached letter from Audi this week. It extends the warranty on the electromechical steering rack to 10 years / 125,000 miles. Covers certain "2011-2016 Model Years B8, C7, and D4 Vehicles". I remember reading some members having their steering failing and paid for the repair. You can seek reimbursement per the letter.

Just got the letter as well. Does anyone know results of a problem with this possible defect? Do we lose steering ? Risk of accident? Any warning signs of failure?
Thanks

Got the letter Monday for my 2014 Q5 2.0T. My car has almost 90K miles on it and never had an issue with the steering.

You can search and see the symptoms. You will get a CEL and when you take it in the repair will be free.

One issue is the notchy on-center feel. Mine was replaced last year at 46K miles. I also got the letter.

Did you file for the refund?

I promise I will-and fingers crossed!! The letter stated that they would have a decision in a 60 day time frame, but I’m kinda hoping for sooner

Didnt want to revive an oldish thread, but I never received the letter. But back in Dec the steering rack failed on my 2015 sq5 with 20k miles. I had it repaired through the dealer (not the purchased dealer) and had to come out of pocket. Long story short, the VIN for my vehicle is not listed for the limited extended warranty. Escalated to have good faith re-imbursement and was denied. Just and FYI.
