Default Electronic Parking Brake Malfunction/VIDEO (updated)

Well, this scared me a bit...

I was just driving down the interstate, doing about 80 mph or so, and I got on the gas a bit and the center display popped up with the Traction Control logo (the car with the skid lines underneath of it), a bunch of dinging started going off, then some long message in German came up, then it popped up and said "Electronic Parking Brake Malfunction", all while the car felt like it was being braked on it's own from the rear (like the parking brake would).

WTF? I read a couple other instances of this online on other Audis. This is flat out dangerous though if it is trying to lock up my rear wheels while I'm driving 80 mph on the highway.

I'm going to call the dealer, but I'm not sure how long it will be before I can get in there. anyone have any thoughts as to what might be happening? ABS maybe? Never had any issues before at all. About 33K on the Q5 right now.

Thoughts? I have VCDS to check codes, but not sure what to look for on there.

Send a note to Uwe at Ross-Tech. He'll direct you where to look. Interesting and disconcerting. First I've heard of this. GL

Thanks for the name. I just sent him an email. I have yet to hear back from the dealership. Probably won't as it's Friday afternoon and they'll not be back in until Monday morning. I did leave them a message stating what was happening.

Hopefully I'll be able to diagnose with VCDS so I can figure this out. I'm a bit afraid to get it back on the interstate.

The MAF code may be due to the aFe filter, but it was the ProDryS, and there was no oil on it. Maybe it's not getting enough air flow, although they claim 50% more airflow than stock filters.

The Charisma code is meaningless, that is just where I added the ADS through VCDS so I could tighten up the steering. It is not seeing a module there, because there isn't one.

The Handbrake and ECM codes have me worried.

I have an appointment for Monday morning at 8:30 am. He has me first up on the rack he said.

It's about a 40 minute interstate drive to get there. I'll try and go slow I guess.

03 207 - Charisma Switch Module
004 - No Signal / Communication
This error occurs when if it is activated with VCDs and it is normally
Delete ADS before going into service

5663 - Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70)
P0102 00 [036] - Signal too Low
I had this error when I used the K & N air filter

These two errors are related, because they use the same module: 01314 - Engine Control Module
Address 03: ABS Brakes (J104) Labels: 8R0-907-379.clb
Address 53: Parking Brake (J540) Labels: 8K0-907-801.clb
I think I'm somewhere in the German forum read that someone had to re-program the module

Hopefully it's not something serious

These are the codes I'm worried about. The MAF and Charisma code arent really a concern.

I have appt at the Audi dealer Monday morning. Hopefully it is just a software issue they can fix. I am hoping my ECU hasnt gone bad.

If the APR flash gets wiped away, I can always have it reinstalled.

I wonder what has caused this though. Something in Audi software that would hav happened anyway, or something that happened with the APR remap. I doubt the APR software would be the problem, I just hope its not something that has physically messed up the ECU.

The first part of it shows normal driving.
Fast Forward to 3:28 to show the error codes. (note: this is the first time the check engine light has stayed on)
=======================

With normal driving, everything is fine.

When you get on the gas (on the interstate yesterday, and today it did it at slow speeds) the car bucks hard and the errors start to pop up after it does it enough.

I really hope my car is not f**ked.
