Default Engine swap from 2015 Audi A4 2.0 TFSI to 2009/10 Audi Q5

Hi!

I am an owner of 2009/10 Audi Q5 2.0 TFSI with CDNC engine and LTH transmission. Engine is basically almost dead consuming 3 liters per 1000 kms. Highly doubt that I will get something from Audi despite 100K kms with 60% of service done by Audi, so just trying to work plan B.

Was looking if it is possible to swap engine from Audi A4 2015 with CNCD 2.0 TFSI engine with PJW transmission to my Audi Q5? Or even may be the engine will fit in even without transmission?

Thank you!

You should be fine with the bottom end of the engine. At some point a 5th injector was added to the 2.0 (Definately the 2015 and 2016).

Thank you! But what exactly do you mean by the bottom end of the engine?
Should I buy transmission with the engine?

Thank you!

Not an expert on this one but I'm thinking you would either have a problem of your current ECU not being compatible or capable with the new motor/trans and/or the new ECU not being compatible with the rest of your car's CAN network. And even if it was compatible you would need a cooperative dealer to connect it all to the fatherland to make it be a car again. Probably would all bolt up but who knows for sure. Sound like a challenging project with many things to learn.

It is what is called a "short block" meaning engine block, pistons, crankshaft and you use the valvetrain from the old engine. ECU doesn't even get touched.

Try to order a new short block for both VIN's yours and donor and see if the same part number to order is specified. If it is the same you are in. If not, it may be hard to find out what is different.
