Another WD-40 success here, I was getting these codes from time to time:

02615 - Fuel Tank Cap; Lock
009 - Open or Short to Ground
Freeze Frame:
Fault Status: 01101001
Fault Priority: 2
Fault Frequency: 4
Reset counter: 3
Mileage: 95507 km
Time Indication: 0
Date: 2019.01.02
Time: 14:52:39

02616 - Fuel Tank Cap; Unlock
009 - Open or Short to Ground
Freeze Frame:
Fault Status: 01101001
Fault Priority: 2
Fault Frequency: 1
Reset counter: 253
Mileage: 95507 km
Time Indication: 0
Date: 2019.01.02
Time: 17:02:53

Even though I thought that my fuel lid was working properly last light I checked it and it was stuck open, tried the remote lock trick and could hear the solenoid but the lock wouldn't move so I decided to spray it with WD-40 and give the area a clean, it was really nasty there, gunk all over the place. Now is fairly clean and seems to be working fine, time will tell, if it fails again I'll just have the actuator replaced.

Thanks @apoelistas for the tip!

you are welcome.

Mine lasted for about 8 months after the fix and problem reappeared. Bought from the dealer one for about 35 and changed the part at home. Works much better now.

Yeah, I might get a brand new lock and have it at hand for when it fails again.

My fuel door motor has been dead for some time now and I been dreading trying to remove it because everyone has been pointing towards damaging the housing. Well I was browsing around and I found an old thread where someone mentioned he had used metal curved trim tools to remove the fuel door housing. He mentioned all he did was stick the tool underneath/behind the plastic housing, pryed and worked his way around to get the housing out.

I kind of tried his way but couldn't really get my small plastic one in there and for it to be strong enough to pry it out (it flexed a lot). My larger plastic pry tools could not fit initially so that didn't work either. So what I did was I literally stuck my hands in there and yanked it outward until I had enough of a gap and then started using my pry tools. I just pryed, yanked, and worked my way around until it all came out.

Good news is I don't have a damaged fuel door housing. Bad news is I yanked the drain hose all the way out and don't know how it routes back in. Does it just dangle down or is there a hole at the bottom it is supposed to come out of?

Also my fuel door motor is still dead. WD40 trick didn't work. Off to Ebay.

Stick your hands into the fuel compartment. Pull onto the plastic housing. This will loosen the bottom left corner.

Once you have loosened it, you can pull on the inside and stick a small plastic pry tool behind the plastic housing. I loosened the bottom, worked my way left, then top.

Ummm there is no edit button on here or am I missing it? Anyway wrap a thick towel around your fuel door when working on it...I rubbed some paint off the edge of my fuel door and luckily not my quarter panel.

Assuming the same problem - my wife's fuel door wouldn't open. Dealer/service manager told her he's seen at least 150 occurences of this. they replaced under warranty, even though we're at 4.1 years since purchase.
