Gear not changing when going uphill

Gear not changing when going uphill
I got my new q5 with automatic transmission last month and I noticed sometimes the gear did not shift quickly. Now into a month, I have pinpointed that it happens when going uphill even if it is slight inclination.
The gear goes from 1st to seconds I can feel it. But, if i don't let go of the gas pedal, the gear stays on 2nd. It changes to the 3rd only if I let go of the gas pedal for a bit. If I continue to try to accelerate the engine starts revving up to 5000 after which I don't see a point to keep accelerating because it's making too much noise and seems like having problem.
Also, while I'm at it, whenever I turn the ignition on and start driving there is a click that is heard and felt when the car moves at about 7mph. I thought it might be the auto lock so I turned off the auto lock, but that click is still there. It may be some feature but I'd be relieved knowing it is a feature than guessing what it is. It does not happen if I stop at a light and start driving, only when I turn the ignition on and start driving.
Please share your knowledge and thoughts.
Thanks

I think all Q5 does that, its call grade logic. The transmission holds lower gear on a hill instead of shifting back and forth. If you step on the gear more or let go of the ags, it will shift.

Among the other issues I had, this fix reduced the # of times I hear the click (only once in a while now vs. every time), and also helped with the uphill-not-changing-gear issue.

Mine does this when I'm climbing up in my parking garage. The only reason it concerns me is that the car is in the break-in stage so I just ease off the gas so it switches to the next gear. Once it's past break-in, I'll let it do whatever it wants. It definitely strikes me as something that is happening on purpose, not by accident.

i think audi does this because since you're on a hill you have more power in case you need to pass or something. try it. next time you're on a hill, you have instant power. its nice but yeah i agree it should upshift so i do it manually and then it struggles for power. weird. mine usually goes to 3-3.5k depeding on the hill. are you sure the click isn't ABS check?
