I use "normal oil" - Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W-40. Initially (back in 2007) there were BIG expectations for the RLI oil in the FSI motors mainly for it's resistance to fuel dilution and as a potential cure-all for carbon buildup. After seeing countless UOIs though, it didn't seem to matter much, wear-wise, once the motor got past initial break-in. So far as carbon buildup goes with cars on a strict RLI oil diet, tear down reports were unimpressive. In other words, the motors were still all carboned-the-hell-up. I decided RLI was not worth the extra cost at my 4000 mile OCIs. However, if you run 10K+ OCIs, then RLI oil might be a better choice.

I'm not sure about bulldogs, but my Brittany will sniff out and get into anything that's especially dirty and/or disgusting - such as carbon buildup.

you just reminded me that there are numerous Bulldog deposits that need cleaning up in my back yard. TY, I guess.
