Halogen Headlight Conversion with HID Kit
Been searching around the forums for the answer to this question. Saw some answers for different models, but nothing specific to the Q5. I just installed the HID fog lights (such an easy install!), and it looks pretty ugly with the halogen lights. Is it possible to replace the halogen lights with an HID kit like the ones from this site?

Apparently they're supporters of this site, so I'd be more than happy to purchase from them.
Or from here

Does anyone have experience with doing this?
Thanks!

That's the worst thing you can do to as you'll just blind people in front of you or driving the opposite direction and throw light all over the place. The best bet is to either upgrade the whole headlight setup with OE HIDs or just try to get some regular non HID bulbs with a blue tint to get the temp to match.
I especially dislike the gentleman that putt HIDs in the headlights and the fogs of his 300C and had all of them throwing light even on the overpasses. That was a torture and people had to get out of his way. That's just stupid.

Check out this site for plenty of info on hid's : http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/
There are also kits available that will allow you to upgrade to hid's that use projectors and include cutoffs so you don't blind folks. Only problem is that these kits don't include leveler's which are required by law now I believe. Here are some stores that sell these kits:

http://www.lightwerkz.net/
Your best option of course is to just upgrade to the OEM solution which you can grab from here but is not cheap.

It's not just the reflective housing, the halogen housing doesn't have automatic leveling that is mandatory (by law) on HID's to keep the lights on correct level and reduce the glare on oncoming traffic.
Little thing like filling up the gas tank will change the light alignment as the rear suspension compresses but hey who cares as all those pickup trucks have their lights pointing up to the sky when ever they tow a trailer or have junk on the bed.

I know you're not supposed to put xenon bulbs in the halogen housing because it's reflective. I'm asking if there's an entire kit that provides the correct housing, or if those links i posted above contain the correct hardware to do a proper conversion. I don't know really know what ballast is, or if you need to get some sort of projector headlight housing? Any advice would be appreciated.
