Hate my brushed aluminum trim dings! Is aluminum sattellite MORE DURABLE?
I have a 2017 SQ5 with brushed aluminum console cover and trim inlays. The console lid cover dings and has scratches of course not from me LOL but very cheaply made. My question is I ordered a Aluminum satellite cover as it looks like better quality like wood or carbon fiber. Anyone think I will need to replace the inlays to match ? Also how does the Aluminum satellite console compare durability wise to the brushed aluminum? I really like the look of the aluminum but figured the Aluminum satellite looks more durable! Also where can I find the aluminum satellite inlays? Thanks Dave

I can't ignore it! Its the one piece that has crazy dents and not having much luck tracking down a new one. I tried wrapping it, and it much better, but i know they are still there. I like the brushed aluminum over CF or wood personally.
Yeah the alu.trim dings too easily.2 dealer demos that I tried at time of purchase had multiple dimples and I decided to go with wood.Good choice but a hassle. Here in Canada the S-Line 14 only came with metal.Found a dealer who was willing to swap in the wood.He got my business.
I've been test-driving 2017s. They all have the satellite inlays and they all look terrible. It's the only reason I haven't bought one yet. Soooo disappointed in Audi's choice on this.
I'd just snag a used shifter console piece that is the glossy wood (which everyone hates) and vinyl wrap it like I did whatever pattern you want. Will be very durable and unique:
I found a brand new brushed aluminum center console trim on Ebay, for $150. My CPO SQ5 has a few dings in that piece too, not looking forward to the work needed to pull out the center console to replace it.
There us nothing "cheap" about these trim pieces, most cars have silver painted plastic or fake wood.
Part number for the brushed aluminum console trim is 8R0863305M 1NK, the last 3 digits define the finish (aluminum, wood, carbon fiber, piano black....)
