I just tried using the hill assist function and not sure if it is normal but it makes a grinding noise. Have you guys tried it and does it make any noise?
I hope its not another issue for me....

I used it to test how it works and it indeed makes same grinding sound like brakes make when ABS comes on.
Same sound comes also when traction control brakes slipping wheel so it is normal.

Completely normal to hear grinding and squeaking as the brakes are used automatically by the car. In my previous car I used hill descent control very often offroad and it sounded horrible but was no problem.

The OP was discussing hill decent control which maintains a set speed when traversing a steep hill using the ABS. There are two alternatives to prevent you from rolling backwards down a hill, the first (and only one you really need IMHO) is the standard hand brake which automatically disengages when you apply throttle, or Hill Hold Assist which does the same as the hand brake but it automatically applies itself every time you pull up.
