Heya folks,
Anyone know the reasoning behind that the horn does not work after the Q is turned off??
It also doesn't work if you are in 'radio still playing for few minutes before you open your drivers door after turning the Q off' mode.

This is not a new thing, but may be new to you. This is my 3rd or 4th car (from different manufacturers) that has done this... Having said that, I don't understand why the horn would be disabled when the car is turned off either - it really doesn't make much sense.

I've driven American and Japanese cars all my life, so it was quite a SHOCK when I finally drove my girlfriend's BMW. How come I can't honk the horn or open the garage door without the car powered on? Is this true for most European cars? I've wondered this as well, why would you purposely turn those off when clearly its a possibility since other manufacturers have it?

I see this as an engineering issue. During deisgn, all of the electric devices of the car are assigned to 1 of 2 groups: switched or unswitched power. For some reason, the Germans see the horn as a switched power device and it is hooked into that electrical panel.
