Mistake
Germany has no restrictions on the highway only to certain sections
You can drive without speed limits

just cause the road doesn't have a speed limit doesn't mean the cars don't.

German automotive manufactures have a gentlemans agreement that all cars are limited to 130mph, some 155mph

Our Q5's are limited to 130mph. My BMW is limited to 155mph (sports package, if it didn't have it, it would be 130mph)

Mistake what?

Just like most motorcycles are limited to 300kph, 186mph. Japan used to have a gentlemans agreement to not make cars over 300hp.

All factory cars in the European Union have agreed to limit the maxi 250 km / h (No Ferrari, Porsche and sports car}
I was thinking the limit on a highway
Q5 is not limited to 130 mph-209 km / h
Top speed: Q5 2.0TFSI 222 km / h Q5 3.2FSI 234 km / h

Hmmm 138 mph.......
that should be fast enough for the wife's daily commute

What many forget though is that tires need to be speed rated to match the safety factor.... doesn't matter if you have a veyron that can go 200 mph if your tires break apart @ 130

(didn't I hear that even the expensive veyron tires wear out in no time at it's top speed ? )

I usually like an analog dial, but the range I drive in is too compact on this so I need the digital. I appreciate the instructions for getting the digital up... But when I am on Nav, I can't seem to display it. Am I missing something?

Thats what I'm saying, most cars are limited to 130mph while some can go to 155mph except for porsche and other speciality manufactures.

The Q is limited to 130mph allegedly. I've only gotten mine to 127mph. jetta says 130 as well, i've gotten it to 120mph. BMW i've gotten to 145mph.

wish we had an autobhan in the US

at that speed the Q is ROCK solid. its awesome. yeah tires play a huge part. and you are correct about the Veyron, its tires run out right before its gas supply does, if you can sustain top speed for long enough

Q5 is not limited to 130MHP maybe in the U.S. market. My good friend works in Ingolstadt and had never heard of this limitation.
I am driving my Q5 220 km / h - 137MPH
Best Regards

hmm, maybe you're right. I'll have to see for myself one of these days. Audi's website says top speed 130MPH http://models.audiusa.com/q5/detailed-specifications

Maybe the rest of the world doesn't care if the tires shred off of the rims above 130MPH! We have something here in the United States called lawsuits...They have a way of taking the fun out of everything.
