The rest of the world does not mean the security or whatever?????
First of all you must know that the car manufacturer testing tires and wheels in extreme conditions and speeds before permitting the manufacture and sale of same.
So this applies only to the USA.

It's electronically limited in both the U.S. and Canada to 130 mph - most likely because the stock tires available on the configurations sold in both countries have R speed ratings. Johncaravello's lawsuit comment is probably right on target.

Even in Deutschland, the top speed is 234 km/hr (145) with the 3.2 FSI. Given the redline, it would probably go even faster.

You must be joking with R speed ratings
R speed ratings 170KM/H = 105MPH
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tire_code#cite_note-16

With chip tuning 272HP or 202kW maximum speed is 242 km / h

Chip

My tires:
MICHELIN LATITUDE SPORT
235/55R19 101W LATITUDE SPORT
W-270 km/h

I do not want to be misunderstood, but I think that's what I wrote OK
It is true that my English is not good.

But I can read well: "hmm, maybe you're right. I'll have to see for myself one of these days. Audi's website says top speed 130mph"

I wrote;"Q5 is not limited to 130MHP maybe in the U.S. market"
So, I wrote the truth 100%.

Best Regards

I am thrilled I can get around this with the digital speedometer (even though a regular dial is usually better)
Looks like they heard you. The speedo dial in the 2013s has been changed, much better!

Better, too bad it still goes to 180 when 160 would do. However the progressive speedometer might be a nice touch!

German automotive manufactures have a gentlemans agreement that all cars are limited to 130mph, some 155mph.
It's not only German cars that allowed to travel in Germany...
