dude seriously, look carefully where your living and where we are living. Each country has their laws. America is nothing like European countries. America is more strict then all other countries.
speedometers are lies?...hmmm radar detectors are lies as well, i guess only your thoughts are true right? if speedometers are not as accurate USA will NOT allow auto makers to import them into the USA. Example, you get busted for going 45 Mph and cops said you were going 48MPH but in your words your going 35MPH. So your words are correct? the car itself is more accurate then you dude. i can gurantee you that your words will never win if you said you were going 35MPH. Theres something called ECU live logging which can be accessed by Vag-com. Auto makers are forced to create a live logging for the ECU for you people speeding crashing and saying your going below speed limit.

In Sweden, if you exceed the speed of over 45 km / h deprive you of the means that is the car, and in Finland, the penalty is 15% of salary. 3-4 years ago a manager from Nokia has paid the highest penalty in the world 115,000 euros

In Sweden, the police confiscate a Ferrari, because the manager was driving 60 km / h faster than the speed limit.
He sued but lost in the court process. Value Ferrari 250.000 Euro
When I wrote the speedometer thought of this
When speedometer reads 60mph (96.6km/h) actual speed will be 58mph (93.4km/h): 3.3% slower.
With higher speed deviation is higher
Good luck

Some manufacturers purposefully have the speedometer show a higher speed than actual; this is common on German brands, especially. They supposedly do it to account for people swapping wheels and tires out and therefore changing the rolling diameter slightly (which will affect the indicated speed).
Like spijun says, it's typically a couple % off when they do it. My Odyssey (US-only vehicle) is spot-on (at least testing with those "your speed: X" boxes the police sometimes put up), while my Passat showed around 3mph or so higher than actual.

This was very helpful. The manual wasn't clear on this issue. I would have never thought that the reset button on the wiper control would be the fix. Thanks again.
