It's been close to a month I got my Q5 and love to drive it. I am figuring out how to view 3D building on the Nav Map.

I have selected 3D maps and check the option of displaying buildings in the setup menu and kept the screen at 75 yards view.I couldn't see the buildings even in Dallas Downtown.

Can you guys help me out?

Started to say maybe your location hasn't 'defined' the 3d to the nav, but my $400 Garmin renders downtown Dallas in 3d so that's not it

but, I've also noticed that my maps are at least 3 years old as discussed in the Nav map thread here https://www.audiworld.com/forums/sho....php?t=2809351
and so maybe 3 years ago Dallas wasn't mapped in 3d yet ?

I am SO disappointed in my $3k investment.... I'd have gotten out of that stock by now

Hmmm, that sounds strange. I get 3D to kick in once I get to a display of 100 yards or less (75, 50, etc.) Anything above (including 200 yards, 300, 1/4 mile, etc), and the 3D buildings do not show up. Given that you are sure you have 3D maps turned on, this may be a dealer issue. If nothing else, you may want to verify with them that it exists in Dallas, but it certainly sounds like it should.

Not the question of the view (scale). Seems you have options set properly, so I'd vote for maps missing building data. I have early 2011 car and when I drive through Warsaw I only see building in strict downtown. I even think that no other town in Poland have 3D building data available yet. Not sure what is coverage in US, but just looking at several other posts about maps accuracy I'd guess that Audi is not the best in keeping maps up to date :-(

Please help me understand this, so its bigger cities that only have 3D maps? I live in Omaha, NE...i've set it to 75yds, and I got nothing....Is there a site to verify what city maps have this feature?

Correct, just like google.com's street view doesn't do all streets...

but my old Garmin's with lifetime maps have slowly 'caught up' with 3d' views of a lot of cities...
