I've got what you'd probably call a stage 1.5?

I removed the 2 rear mufflers

Added a Pod filter with a heat shield

Installed the superchips / bluefin tune.

It's on a 3.0 TDI though. Intake sounds amazing and the old girl gets up and goes.

Intake is enough to turn heads and people with confused faces when they see it's a Q5.

It's kind of loose terminology. Generally speaking....

Stage 1 = software only (changes the ECU profiles for boost, timing, etc)
Stage 2 = Stage 1 + additional hardware upgrades (could be bigger turbos, whatever)
Stage 3 = going not street legal (cat deletes, etc)

Stage 1 = software
Stage 2 = software + downpipe cat delete or 200 cells cat (I prefer the 200 cells cat) + iridium spark plugs + red ignition coils
Stage 3 = software + cat 200 cells or cat delete + larger intercooler + larger turbo (near 330-350) -+ cold intake airfilter + red ignition coils + iridium spark plugs

One may choose a combination without a larger turbo charger.

Example
I used to have racechip (the middle tier package) and following upgrades:
Red ignition coils, Iridium spark plugs
Larger intercoolet from diesel 3.0l

Will be adding the 200 cell cat downpipe soon because.my cat (and turbo charger) have failed probably from a combination of factors (not just from stage 1 reasons)

I think you're all forgetting us 3.0T brothers and sisters.

Stage 1: Software only
Stage 2: Software and one pulley
Stage 3: Software, 2 pulleys.

I'd add a + to any one of those stages for any intake / exhaust, coil, or there motor related enhancements.
