I had my oil changed locally since the dealer is 2hrs away and he could not reset the oil change display and it will not give the oil level readout in the display now. Any trick or is Vag tool etc needed?

You need to reset the service reminder with the Vag Con software. The oil level display can only be read correctly 10 minutes after you shut off your car. Make sure your local shop use Audi apporved motor oil.

Do the following steps:
remove key from ignition switch.
open engine hood.
leave it open for a minute or more.
close engine hood.
Start and warm up engine.
Stop engine then turn key on.
Check engine oil level display after two minutes.
