Can anyone tell me how to turn the engine off (2012 Q5 Premium Plus) while keeping the radio on without interruption? I have tried for a while to figure this out. This is either embarrassingly easy or something's not right.

We have a BMW with insertion key (FOB) and push-button start. When the engine's running and you press the start button, the engine turns off but accessories remain on until the FOB is pushed in and pops out. With the Q5 there is no push-button I have to push in the key which turns everything off (engine and electrics).

With our 2011, once you turn the car off, push the Volume button in and that will turn the radio on. However, it only lasts for 15-30 minutes before it auto-turns off. Press it again and it will turn on again.

That I'm aware of. I would like the radio to stay on when the engine is turned off. For example when I pull into the garage but want to finish listening to a song or news story. I can do this with every other car I've owned.

So what you're saying is there's no way for electrical accessories to remain uninterrupted once the engine is turned off?

Have a 2011 prem plus w/out start/stop button. If you just push the KEY in (brake depressed or not) W/OUT PULLING IT OUT everything keeps going (engine stops-radio keeps playing). When key is pulled out everything shuts off. Hope this helps.

That's what I'm getting at. When I come to a stop, shift it into park and push the key in, everything shuts off even without pulling the key out.

When I turn off our Q5, the radio stays on until I open the door. Must be in the settings menu somewhere.

Same here... I've got a 2012, and when I press the engine off/on button after putting it in park, the radio stays on until I open the door. Not sure how long cause I usually don't sit there for a long time, but the radio always stays on until I open the door. I'll peek and see if there's a setting, but I haven't monkeyed with my settings much...

My radio stays on after i shut the engine off until after I take out the FOB key, or if i wait for a long time it does it automatically.

If there isn't a setting you have access to, your dealer should be able to fix it. I had to have mine fix the mirror tilt in R on the passenger side even though the mirror **** was in the correct spot.

Mine stays on also, I put the car in neutral and then hit the button and it stays on til i open the door.
