I noticed that the top of the bumper is starting to get scratches from luggage and ski equipment. Even though that area is waxed well I we tried to keep items off it. The RX300 put a rubber mat on top of the bumper in our Model year 01' - I may look at purchasing one to see how it looks on the car (I had to replace that strip last year as ours cracked after nine years)

Audi has a clear strip you can put on. I have it but have not intalled it yet. You can also do a rear bumper wrap with a clear film like they do on front bumpers. If do the whole bumper it would be hard to tell and offer some protection.

I did the same thing, and it works well...dog jumping in and out, boxes, groceries, etc...
I do wish I could have purchased a metal one that matched the aluminum trim and actually went over the bumper lip alittle... Had it on my Murano, and it was stylish and functional...eh well

I had to remove my clear strip after a year. It became yellow and obvious, not sure why, I assume from road salt, UV light and car washing.
Someone once posted a picture of a chrome protecting strip that covers the lip of the bumper as well. Might be worthwhile to search for that . . .
