PS: For $ 1000 you could buy a full carbon fiber trim kit
That part number is exactly the same as the brushed aluminum trim I took a picture of a few posts back.

Spijun,

The carbon atlas parts are a lot more expensive. Do you have part numbers and rough pricing for those pieces? I think the total would be well over $1000.

Thanks.

In Europe, the price for a set (the original) in 1100 Eur

I know for original, but there is always an alternative

Thanks, Spijun.

I considered both of those alternatives, but they lack the aluminum edging that the SQ5 OEM parts have. The closest alternative I found was from Carbon Designz, at $750 for the console piece alone.

The dealer charged me a little more than that (installed), but I got the OEM part and the piece of mind and continued warranty coverage that come with dealer installation.

Holy Cow! What are you guys doing in those cars? I like the aluminum trim because I think it is much more "sporting". We've got no issues at all; and we have to small dogs in the car with us frequently.

One of the nice things about the ash inlays specifically is that it's got some aluminum edging to it that helps to tie it into the facelift aluminum trim (switches, *****, etc.). So you're not aluminum-less with at least that trim (the walnut doesn't have any, though, and I don't think the oak does, either). Obviously that one particular tone/pattern of wood won't work in every vehicle and for every person, though, but other than being non-glossy and tying in with the Chestnut seats well, the small bit of aluminum helps tie it to the rest of the interior as well so it's the one non-offensive wood trim that I've ever seen.

How did you remove the center console trim?

Are you guys referring to the 'aluminum satellite' inlays or is this something different (brushed aluminum)? I ordered with the aluminum satellite and hope they arent too fragile.
