Don't lose your **** just yet!
"Hate" your Q5 is pretty strong just because one DRL doesn't work. It's an AMAZING vehicle and you KNOW IT! It's also a very new vehicle so parts will be a little harder to get. I had to order my cargo liner and my rubber winter mats from a dealer in the US because there's none in any of the warehouses in North America.
If having only one LED DRL on bothers you that much and you can get together with Chaos (audiforum.ca) to VAG-COM your car again, you can change the DRL settings. You can either turn the DRL off or change it so that one of your other forward facing lights is the DRL: Front side marker, fog light, high beam or DRL LED. You can also add the side markers and tail lights for added visibility.

If you want to turn them off. Go to "Car" on the MMI. Then go down to "Exterior Lighting" there will be an option to turn off the day time running lights. There you go. Good luck with the issues. Don't hesitate to escalate things and get an Audi Area Service Manager involved.

I've been away for a while, but I'm back.... Sick..
Anyways, in Canada, it is mandatory to have DRLs. You will get fined if you don't have them.
Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108 requires DRLs on all new vehicles made or imported after January 1, 1990.

(I know wikipedia is not the best source to quote references, but I'm not writing a thesis.)
