Go for the Aton. It is a superior product to the Graco. I'm not a fan of Graco products - from sampling them in the stores they feel flimsy, the straps and fabric are of lower quality. While visiting family, I had difficulty leveling the base in a Passat. Plus, the Aton saves 2" of legroom for the front seat passengers.

As for installing the bases, I'd put them in the outboard positions. Its much easier to open the door and click the carrier into the base without having to reach across to them middle.
