I'd bet $$$ on it. Again, shame on Audi for leaving us with OBSOLETE maps for so long. It's downright pathetic.

My 2012 doesn't show POI that are over 3.5 years old (one of my restaurants) - so I have to assume maps are the same (old). Very dismayed at it's out-datedness.

Oh and if you're planning to add a 'happy' column you can put a YES on that for me
Just checked - that's our nav db version too...
and mmi software version is HNav_US_PO14_D1

now really upset - got something in my eye and had to go to Surgery center that's been there for a while from what I was told...
put the city in
Fort Worth, Tx
asked for the street:
rosedale
offered a few selection
selected west rosedale like I was given...
then went to put street number and
it let me select 2...
but wouldn't let me select the the rest of the street address...2001 !

and of course the POI's were not up to date enough to let me select the name of the place !!!

I can find the closest Audi dealer, but not a surgery center

My one week old 2012 Q has NAR 5.5.5 I think Audi wants everyone to trade in and buy the new model year if they want new maps. At least it seems like its the only way to get new maps. Wonder if we can export the newer 2012 map info to an sd card and then import and upgrade an older Q's database and map set? Just a thought. I do doubt it.

Audi uses Navteq for their nav software: http://www.navteq.com

I have participated on several surveys from them on software updates. It was clear they had not figured out how they wanted to do it for the Q5 and other newer models.

Ok. Just got a chance to check a simple thing. A restaurant around the corner from my house changed hands 3 years ago and it is still listed by it old name. So much for the POI update.

Hey, John, map updates take a looooong time (sadly). They get their data from National sources, so first the government has to update their database (you can imagine how long that takes), then they have to integrate the new data, test it for problems (think of ANY software development project), and finally create the customer distributable object (CD/DVD/download). Not trivial, and guaranteed to take at least a year.

Unfortunately, you have to add to that the obvious choice of the auto companies to treat the nav systems as something other than core features. It is obviously just a check mark on their marketing sheet for most auto companies (I think Audi fits that category) and gets little attention once the vehicle is sold. The GPS manufacturers (Garmin, Tom-Tom, etc) ahve a much better track record for updating in a timely (relatively speaking) manner, with the Garmin maps actually getting multiple updates per year. I think the Auto makers are actually seeing the map updates as a source of additional revenue, as there is NO WAY that the update is worth $240 (go to amazon and search on Garmin lifetime maps, they are about $70 if you already own a device, and many brand new Garmins with lifetime maps can be purchased for under $150). Not to mention the fact that the maps that the auto maker ships may not even be up to date or complete (the MB maps have about 1.5 million points of interest on my 2008 maps like restaurants, etc., my Garmin has over 6 million. When I search for Starbucks on m MB Nav system, the only thing I get is their HQ in Oregon).

I have updated my Garmin 3 times this year alone. As far as I can tell for the forums, the Q5 has never had a map update at ANY cost.
