Default Key Error Displayed

Hi,Let me start off by saying that I have an 2012 Q5 Premium Plus. I was rear ended and most of the damage was in the lower part of the bumper.

The car has been repaired and they did a great job, everything works and I have been driving it around for about a week now.

The problem I am having is related to the key fob (or not), when I get in the car and press the break and then push the start button I get either no response or the display will say "No Key Identify".
If I remove my foot from the break and push the start button the car does not start but everything else turns on. Then I press the break and push the button and the car starts up fine. This problem is intermittent.

The second part of this problem is when I am driving sometimes there will be a question marks and a key icon next to each other on the display and then it goes away after about a minute and again this is intermittent.

I will be taking the car back to the repair shop to have them look at it but want to see if anyone here has ever seen this problem and what was the cause.

Oh and this is happening with both key fobs so I do not think it is key fob related.

Thanks for your input.

I havent seen this problem with my car, but had exactly the same problem with the 2010 A6 they gave me for a while. Wonder if this have something to do with the battery in the kayfab...

Not sure if it helps but I also have the advanced key and experienced a similar thing when I first got th car. Turns out I simply was not pressing the break pedal hard enough when pressing the start button. It seems that every so often the brake has more resistance (i.e. less free play). Either the issue has gone away or I have just gotten used to it.

Getting the no key identified message could point to a flat battery in the key fob itself, or in your case (as both keys do the same thing), a fault or coding error in the keyless system. I would get it checked before going on a trip and finding the car refusing to grant you access.

Thanks for the input, I am taking the car to the dealer ship this afternoon for the 5K checkup and I will also have them look at the key fob issue.

If they are able to fix the problem I will be sure to post what they did on here in case anyone else runs into this problem.
