Default Keyless Entry Troubles?

Anyone having trouble with the keyless entry? Mine just stopped working. Cannot lock it with the finger touch on the handle. Cannot unlock it by sticking my hand in the handle. Remote works fine.

yeah, the car has to sense the presense of the key and the signal may be to weak.

I had several sensors replaced on my A4 (on separate occasions). At least once, a sensor failure led to none of them working. Even now, one of the sensors is losing sensitivity while the others work fine. So, if you've replaced the battery in your key, I'd ask your service center to take a look. The computer does apparently log a code if one of the sensors completely fails.

Default Thus, try another handle

First, the battery replace is a $5-6 no brainer. But assuming that isn't a cure, simply try another door handle. If it works, the first handle is bad. Happened on my A8 with comfort (keyless) access early on, though only on the lock function. Could be an antenna issue too, but not as easy to diagnose as an individual handle.

As with other periodic posts, also make sure it isn't cross interference from your cell phone. Leave it somewhere else and then try the offending door(s). If it now works, you then know the issue. With my A8, the phone and the key simply cannot reside in the same pants pocket or the keyless doesn't work properly. Opposite pockets are good enough. Thank you Apple.

question is, is the key in the same pocket as your cellphone? if it is there will be a signal interference.

Left my cell phone in the house. No difference. I doubt it is the battery because the car is only 5 months old. And my wife's key doesn't work either. All four doors are dead. Guess I'll take it in to Audi. I had heard that they are having issues with this system. I was curious whether anyone else had had the same issue.

Did you look in the MMI and make sure the feature is still turned on?

We don't have MMI but I did go through the entire menu under "car" and there was nothing relating to this. Thanks for the thought though.

Default That reminds me--the car battery?

The replies have been about the remote battery, but what about the car battery? Keyless is one of the first things the power management system lops off when it thinks the car battery is getting low. Any time I got in my A8 and noticed keyless was out to lunch, it was a clue the car battery was getting running low on juice. After finally crapping out a couple times a month or so ago, I got a new one. Much more "staying power" now--just like it was at a younger battery age (it went 6+ years) for all the electronic toys and power sucks.

Keyless also gets cut off by the power mngt system before the conventional remote click to open/lock system IIRC. From A8 experience, if the conventional remote lock/unlock is also cut off and you need to resort to the mechanical key, time to pray whether the car starter will even turn over.

Obviously as a 2013 it sholudn't be doing this, but one way or another something must be amiss. On my A8 BTW, before I bought it CPO for some reason the repair history said they did replace the main battery in the very first year of its life.
