The urea mixture is called AdBlue and you can have the dealer fill it for you or you can buy it from the dealer for about $15 and do it yourself. Each fill up lasts about 10,000 miles and you get a warning message on the dash about 1,500 miles before empty. Once empty, the car will not start (betcha this would be a cool Vagcom project). So did I, but cross referencing various sources "in the know" showed no intent for Audi to bring the diesel Q5 to the USA market.

I understand that it may be possible to make space for the urea tank by changing the trunk, or in some ther area, but the USA market has this Hybrid thing in their butt, hence an apparent greater probability that the hybrid model will be here. I do not believe it makes marketing sense to have both a diesel and a hybrid model of the same car - too many choices that will confuse the consumer.

I sure hope I am wrong, but that is what it appears to be at the moment. It could of course change as the market changes, and I hope it does.
I do not work for Audi marketing, so I can not say what Audi's intent is.

Audi already plant to bring the Q5 hybrid into the US market soon, a diesel Q5 will just take away sales from the Hybrid.
